Footprint. Interior. Door opening.

Will the shed really fit your space?

A shed may fit the available space while your bike cannot get through the door. Check three areas separately: the footprint outside, the storage space inside and the access in front.

Schematic top view, not to scale: check the footprint, usable interior and door area separately. Required clearances and installation instructions depend on the chosen model.

Measure the available space

Measure the usable width and depth at the narrowest point. Check the available height beneath roofs, branches or other obstacles too. Note which side will be the front with the door.

Compare the external dimensions of the selected version. Check whether these include roof overhangs. Allow the clearances needed for assembly and use according to the model’s installation instructions.

Check the usable space

Measure the largest tool or longest items you want to store. Compare these measurements with the stated internal space. External dimensions cannot be used as internal dimensions.

Remember to allow space for shelves and easy access to frequently used items. If internal dimensions are missing, ask us whether your items will fit rather than estimating.

Allow for the door and access

Compare the door width and height with your equipment. Also check the route to the door and the space needed to turn, manoeuvre and open the door leaves.

Turning the shed may make better use of the space, but also changes the side you enter from. Before buying, check the linked assembly instructions if they are available on the product page.

Your checklist

  • Available width, depth and height noted.
  • External dimensions of the right version and required clearances checked.
  • Largest tool checked against the interior and door opening.
  • Door leaves, access, base and installation requirements considered.

Frequently asked questions

Is a suitable floor space enough?

No. The usable height, door opening and access must work too. A footprint that fits does not guarantee you can move your equipment in and out.

What does the 90° rotation in the shed finder mean?

The finder swaps width and depth for the footprint comparison. Then check that you can still reach the door on the rotated front side and have enough room to open it and manoeuvre.

What kind of base do I need?

This depends on the model and how it is installed. Check its product description and assembly instructions. Do not assume that a floor, foundation or particular parts are included based on a picture alone.

Your next step

Compare with your own measurements.

The shed finder compares available models with your site dimensions. Check the internal space and door opening separately in the product details.
