How to choose the right bin storage
Good bin storage keeps your outdoor space tidy and is easy to use every day. The key is to check your actual bin dimensions, the available space and room for opening.
1. Count and measure your bins
Note the number and capacity of your bins. Measure each at its widest and deepest points, including wheels and handles. Measure the height with the lid closed. Record the dimensions separately for mixed sizes.
For shared storage, add the widths of the bins standing side by side. The greatest depth and height set the minimum requirements. Allow extra clearance; the storage volume in litres does not replace this comparison.
2. Check how the site will work
External dimensions tell you whether the closed unit fits the site. Internal dimensions tell you whether your bins fit inside. Check both, as well as the usable doorway and a level route to the collection point.
The lid must open fully, even under a canopy. Doors need swing space. Watch out for slopes, walls and nearby plants. The Vela instructions require the unit to be fixed to a wall.
3. Choose the base model and option
Soraya is designed for two 120-litre bins. Store It Out Max, Tilia and Vela are designed for two 240-litre bins. Always compare your actual bins with the internal space and openings.
Hide Away provides a separate door and lid for each bin. The base unit has two spaces for 240-litre bins. For more spaces, choose a complete multi-bin option or compatible extensions. An extension cannot stand alone.
4. Prepare for assembly
Read the correct instructions before starting. Check all components, prepare a level, load-bearing surface and gather the specified tools. Fixings and anchoring depend on the model, surface and assembly instructions.
